DIY Oatmeal Cookie Hostess Gift

The holidays are quickly approaching and the party invitations are starting to roll in! So what do you bring that neighbor, friend or family member other than a candle or some flowers?

Well why not something sweet!

LET’S BAKE SOME OATMEAL COOKIES

OATMEAL COOKIES + CHOCOLATE CHIPS

Makes about 4 dozen. 

Total time 50 min 

Wrap this custom label around an 18-ounce oat canister.

So my youngest loves baking, who knew… he won’t get dirty at the barn with me, but he has no problem making my kitchen look like a tornado came through.

That’s ok with me, I love our time in the kitchen together.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO GET STARTED!


INGREDIENTS:

1 cup all purpose flour

1/4 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 stick unsalted butter, room temperature

2/3 cup packed light brown sugar

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 large egg

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats

1/2 cup chocolate chips


INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Preheat ven to 350 degree. Sift lour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and 1/2 teaspoon salt into a bowl. Beat butter and sugars until pale and fluffy. Mix in egg and vanilla, then the flour mixture. Mix in oats, then chocolate chips. 

2. Using a 1 1/4 inch ince cream scoop (or 1 tablespoon), drop dough onto parchment paper on a silicone mat lined baking sheets, spacing each scoop about 2 inches apart. Bake until edges are golden, about 14 minutes. Let cookies cool on a wire rack. Once cooled fill your cute customized canister. Cookies can be stored at room temperature for 1 week.

Pretty Presentation

Once you have baked all your cookies and they are cooled off. Remove the label from your oat canister. Print out your personalized label (click here for free printable), then write home the cookies are for, glue or tape your new label on the canister, fill with cookies and then wrap your homemade gift in cellophane and embellish with ribbon as desired! See some inspirational pictures below. The great thing about this gift is when they open it and ask your for the yummy recipe, you can tell them its already included on your canister! How fun is that!!!
